Setup 2-Factor Authentication

2-Step Verification (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. Enabling this feature means that when you login to your Password Boss account you will enter your email address and Master Password, along with a verification code from your phone.

With 2FA enabled on your account it means that if your Master Password is lost or stolen, only you can login to your account.

Here's how it works

  • Every time you login into your Password Boss account, you will be asked to enter a verification code along with your Master Password
  • You will receive the verification code from an app on your mobile phone
  • After you enter the verification code you will be logged into Password Boss with extra peace of mind

Step 1 - Download and install an authentication app

Before you can set up 2FA on your account, you’ll need to download and install an authentication app, typically on your mobile phone. Password Boss can be used with most Time-Based, One-Time Password (TOTP) applications. Here are a few options to get you started:

Using backup security codes
If you lose the device your authentication app is installed on you can use the backup security code you received when you setup 2FA on your account. Each backup security code can only be used once.

You can request a new backup security code from the My Account page on the Password Boss Portal at https://portal.passwordboss.com/account.

Note:

After you use a backup security code to login to your Password Boss account 2FA is disabled on your account. To use 2FA again you will need to set it up again.
