Creating strong passwords with Password Boss

One of the main benefits of using Password Boss is the ability to create strong, unique passwords for every one of your accounts.  Creating different passwords for every account improves your overall security and also lowers your potential risk in case one of you sites has a security breach. 

If one site has a security breach and your password is stolen from that site the damage can be limited to just that site if you are using different passwords for every site.

Tip:

You can also access the password generator from the owl icon near the address bar in the browser. Click the owl icon and then click the Menu button.

Creating a password for a new account not in Password Boss

Password Boss is designed to show you the password generator automatically when you need it.  The app does this by looking at the web page you are on and looking for fields for new or updated passwords.

  1. In your browser, go to the account creation web page for the website you want to save a password for. 
  2. Click the owl in either the username/email field or the password field. This starts the process to create a new account in Password Boss.
  3. Click Save login for this site
  4. The password generator will open up.  Use the slider to change the length of the password and the check boxes to include different items in the password.pg.png
  5. Click Use password to continue. 
  6. The Add new account screen will open. Change any of the fields as needed and click Save.

  7. The account has now been saved in Password Boss and the new password will be entered automatically into the web page.

  2. From the bottom menu tap More ios_more_button.png
  3. Go to the account creation web page for the website you want to save a password for.
  4. Tap either the either the username/email field or the password field. This starts the process to create a new account in Password Boss.
  5. On the Add to Password Boss screen tap Yes.
  6. The add new password screen appears. Enter a Name and a Username.
  7. Tap Create Password.
  8. Use the slider to change the length of the password if needed.
  9. Tap Save
  10. The new password will be saved in Password Boss and entered into the web page for you.

Creating a new password for an account already in Password Boss

  1. Go to the change password page for the website you want to update the password for. You will typically need to login to the website to change your password.
  2. Click the owl in the New Password field. This starts the process to create a new password.
  3. The password generator will open up.  Use the slider to change the length of the password and the check boxes to include different items in the password.
  4. Click Use password to continue.
  5. The Update existing account window will appear.
  6. If you have multiple accounts at the same website make sure the correct Name is selected to be updated. All of your accounts for the same website are available in the drop-down list.
  7. Click Update.  This saves the new password to your account in Password Boss and enters the new password in the new password fields on the web page.
  8. Your previous password is also saved in Password Boss. You can view your previous password from the Tools menu and choose Password History. You can also access the previous password from the edit item screen.  Click the history icon.

  3. Tap Security.
  4. Tap Password Generator.
  5. Set the options you need for the new password and tap Copy when done.
  6. You can now paste the new password on a saved item in Password Boss or into an app or website.
